Jasper Becker: Author and Journalist who spent two decades as a foreign correspondent in China for titles including the South China Morning post.
Oliver August: Correspondent and editor at The Economist, former Times Beijing bureau chief and author of Inside the Red Mansion.

Mayling Birney: Lecturer and assistant professor at the London School of Economics; currently writing a book on how China limits the unwanted effects of its own political reforms and stabilises authoritarian rule.

Dr Xiaobing Wang: Lecturer in economics at the University of Manchester. Before leaving China he was a corporate law consultant. He is currently conducting empirical work on the welfare of rural residents in China alongside a range of other areas.

Dr Kerry Brown: Foreign office first secretary to China, 2000-2003. Head of the Asia Programme at Chatham House.
